3 Ways To Improve Internet Speed On A Windows PC

To make your Internet connection run faster, there are essentially 3 things that you have to do. These are to first ensure that the Internet connection itself is working correctly, then that your software is not causing problems, and finally that Windows is able to run correctly. Although the Internet is still a relatively unreliable technology, the way to make it run faster is actually very methodical if you're able to follow the steps outlined on this page.
1) Check Your Internet Speed Is Okay
One of the biggest causes of problems for the typical Windows system is that the raw Internet speed of your system is running slower. This is normally a problem from the Internet service provider (ISP), and in order to see if this is the problem your PC is facing, it's recommended that you use these steps:
  • Click onto the Internet
  • Click onto "SpeedTest.net"
  • Test the speed of your connection
  • If it's the acceptable speed, move onto the next step
2) Re-Install Any Programs Which Have Problems
After checking the Internet speed of your PC, it's recommended that you re-install any of the software which may have problems. This is a big step because in most instances, programs such as Skype, AIM and others will have an issue which results in them taking up a huge amount of Internet bandwidth (speed). This means that in order to fix this problem, you have to be able to clean out any of the possible issues that Windows might have with this part of your system - through removing the programs that could be causing the system to run slower.
3) Check The Registry Of Windows
The final step is to check out the registry of your system. Although this is not essential, it can be one of the most common reasons why the Internet will run slower - basically because of the way that the database could become corrupted - leading Windows to slow down and become erroneous. This problem is best identified if you download a tool called a "registry cleaner" and let it examine the errors that your system may have on there. If it finds a considerable amount of errors, then it's likely these are contributing in some way to the problems that your computer will have - making it vital that you're able to fix them in the most effective & reliable way. This can be done by downloading a reliable registry cleaner, and letting it clean out any of the problems on your system.
