LogonUI.exe is a file that's used by the Windows Login facility of your PC, to help control the security and authorization policies of Windows. Each time you have to log into your computer, it will continually use this software to help load up an important set of information in order to get it working as smoothly as possible. Although LogonUI.exe is used by all the Windows computers in existence, it's continually leading a large number of problems to form due to the way the application is either going to be damaged or missing.
The way to resolve the LogonUI.exe is to first ensure that you can repair the various problems that it will have. These will include the logonui.exe file itself being damaged, or Windows having registry errors, as well as your PC having problems with the "dependent" files that logonui.exe uses to run. To fix these problems, you can use the steps outlined here:
Step 1 - Load New Versions Of "UserInit.exe" & "WSAUpdater.exe"
You can begin by loading new versions of the files that LogonUI depends on to run (called "dependent files"). You can do this by clicking onto these steps:
- Restart your PC
- Load from the XP installation CD
- Press "R" to enter the recovery mode
- Type the following:
- copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
- Press Enter
- Restart Windows
- See if the error shows
Step 2 - Load a New Version Of LogonUI.exe Onto Your PC
After doing this, you should load up a new version of LogonUI onto your system. Again, this can be done by clicking onto the Windows installation CD, as follows:
- Insert the Windows CD into your PC
- Press WINDOWS KEY + R (loads up "Run")
- Type the following & press Enter: "expand D:\i386\logonui.ex_ %windir%\system32\logonui.exe"
Step 3 - Clean Out The Registry Of Windows
The last step is to clean out the registry database of Windows. This is where your PC will keep a large number of important information for your system, and is continually being used to help make sure that your PC is able to process the important files that are required to help it run. We've found the registry database to be one of the most common causes of problems for the Windows system, and is going to be one of the biggest causes of the LogonUI.exe error. To fix this, you can download a registry cleaner, install it and then let it fix the various errors on your system. We recommend using Frontline Registry Cleaner for this job.
